Kim-Gerald loveteam: ABS-CBN flavor of the month
When it rains, it pours. That’s exactly what’s happening for the young loveteam of "Pinoy Big Brother" Teen Edition Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. The young pair is now the "flavor of the month" at ABS-CBN, losing no time in giving the two stars their biggest breaks.
After getting out of the Big Brother house last June, Kim and Gerald have steadily proven their drawing power by their growing number of fans. Their first project together, "Lovespell," which ran every Sunday last July, displayed muscle in the ratings by toppling its rival program on GMA 7, "Love 2 Love." The last we heard was that "Love 2 Love" was even thinking of reformatting, so as to give good competition to "Lovespell."
In fact, due to popular demand, Kim and Gerald get a second wind in "Lovespell" this September, with a new story supported by Shaina Magdayao and Rayver Cruz. Following that, ABS-CBN is giving the loveteam their own teleserye, "My Destiny," to be shown before the year ends.
Kim and Gerald were initially eyed to join the cast of "Crazy for You," the teleserye starring Luis Manzano and Toni Gonzaga. The said series, to premiere next month, feature other young stars such as John Pratts, Roxanne Guinoo, Sandara Park and Joseph Bitangcol. Kim and Gerald would have been in the lineup, too. However, on their first taping day, the loveteam was asked to pack up, much to their surprise and disappointment.
Kim and Gerald were told to discontinue taping because they will be given their own teleserye. Naturally, the second news delighted both stars.
But that’s not all. Kim and Gerald were also signed up by Star Cinema for the movie, "First Day High," taken after the hit song of Kamikazee. The said film is slated to be shown this September.
Due to the popularity of the loveteam, Kim and Gerald were also taken in as endorsers. You see the pair in huge billboards all over Metro Manila, as image models for Bench.
That may be a case of too much, too soon for the loveteam? ABS-CBN capitalizing on the popularity of Kim and Gerald, didn’t the network do the same thing with Hero Angeles and Sandara Park? Until the young loveteam proves otherwise, then Kim and Gerald will be the "hot properties" of ABS-CBN.
Shaina denies being third party
Shaina Magdayao was caught by surprise when her name figured in the breakup of Joross Gamboa and Roxanne Guinoo. Some Jo-Rox fans are blaming Shaina for the split of the young lovers.
However, Shaina denies anything to do with the Jo-Rox breakup. "I’m not even close to Joross," Shaina reasons out. "That’s why every time we would tape for ‘Rounin’ now, I am extra careful with my moves. Before nga na wala kaming ginagawa, may chismis na, now pa that I’m being blamed for the breakup of Joross and Roxanne. I don’t even want to be seen talking to Joross on the set of ‘Rounin’ para wala ng masabi at isipin ang ibang tao."
In the meantime, Shaina will teamup with Rayver, also her "Rounin" co-star, in the September edition of "Lovespell," that will bring back the loveteam of Kim and Gerald.
Not living together
Dominic Ochoa denies that he has been living in with his non-showbiz girlfriend of two years, a make-up artist and stylist named Denise, at the latter’s condo unit in Makati. Dominic insists he still goes home to his parents’ house in Parañaque every night, but he makes it a point to see his girlfriend every day.
Dominic, who is now in his early ‘30s, does not hide the fact that he still lives with his parents. "Matipid at libre," he would always say.
Dominic stars in an episode of "Your Song" on ABS-CBN this September, teaming up with Angelica de la Cruz.
Florabel b-day parties
Niña Jose, one of the 14 housemates in "Pinoy Big Brother" Teen Edition, celebrated her 18th birthday with a quiet, very private dinner last Saturday, August 26, at Florabel Restaurant at the Podium. Only her family and closest relatives were seen with her.
There was no big celebration for Niña according to her mom, Claire Atienza Jose, and they had to forego the traditional, grand 18th birthday bash for the young lady.
Guess who popped up in the dinner for Niña. Not Fred or Bam Romana, the two guys closest to her while they were inside the "PBB" house, but Mikey, who greeted Niña on her birthday.
Niña, we heard, was tapped as the newest signature teen model of Forever Flawless, joining the likes of Lorna Tolentino and Judy Ann Santos, who are the current endorsers of the beauty clinic’s growing chain.
That same night, Bench’s big man, Ben Chan, also got a surprise birthday bash at Florabel Restaurant, courtesy of his ever-ebullient PR man Keren Pascual. Expected in the dinner were only 40 guests, but restaurant owner Florabel Co found herself attending to over 80 guests after 9 p.m.
Spotted in Ben’s dinner party were Kris Aquino with son Joshua and hubby James Yap, John Pratts and sister Camille, the Gutierrez twins Richard and Raymond, Zanjoe Marudo and other Bench image models.
